Floating terminals

GEARBULK ENTERED THE FLOATING TERMINAL BUSINESS IN 1977 IN JEDDAH, CONVERTING A TANKER INTO A STORAGE FACILITY FOR BOTH BULK AND BAGGED CEMENT.

Today we operate the transshipment vessel Raggiana Arrow, a vital link in Papua New Guinea’s infrastructure for exportation of copper concentrate.

Raggiana Arrow is a converted 5th Generation OHGC. During her conversion, a hybrid batery system was installed to reduce the number of auxillary engines required to run during cargo operations. In addition, as she is permanently based in a tropical area, she is outfited with 500m2 of solar panels on top of her gantry crane to take advantade of the extensive sunlight.
