From our base in Bergen, Gearbulk Ship Management provides a full range of fleet management services for the vessels owned or managed by Gearbulk that form the core of our operating fleet and is fully integrated into Gearbulk's organisation.

Technical management, crewing, safety, environmental, quality assurance, purchasing, vessel insurance, fleet accounting and other responsibilities, all focusing on ensuring that the ships perform to a standard which meets our customers' and our internal expectations.

The Gearbulk project department:

Gearbulk's Ship management also provides project design, new building drawing approbation and new build site supervision. In addition, management of special projects such as vessels conversions is provided in-house, with project experience of caustic soda, orange juice, liquid pitch and metal concentrates. All projects have a high level of focus on efficiency, safety and environmental protection.

Gearbulk Ship Management was launched in January 2011, when Gearbulk decided its long-term development strategy would be best served by integrating technical, operational and commercial management of its fleet into one overall organisation.

Safety First:

Safety is Gearbulk's principle priority, with a sharp focus on accident prevention. All Gearbulk seafarers undergo rigorous training to ensure the vessels are operated and maintained in a safe manner at all times. Safety training is completed during Officer Seminars which are held annualy in various locations around the world. This is further supported by additional non mandatory training courses to improve professional standards plus an active Cadet Training Programme.

The vessels are all managed and operated in accordance with all relevant conventions, including SOLAS, ISM, ISPS, STCW, MARPOL and the MLC 2006 as required by the industry legislators, International Maritime Organisation (IMO) and the International Labour Organisation (ILO). Our goal is however to go beyond the standards set by IMO and ILO Areas where we invest in extra training that includes Bridge Team Management, Ship Handling, Engine Room Simulator Training, Cargo Pre-Planning and MARPOL Compliance.

As part of our commitment to continually improve safety standards, awareness , reporting and performance throughout the fleet, we have annual programmes targeting specific areas of improvement and to support meeting the ship management KPI targets.
